Do You Have the Right Tools to Do More With Less?

In this volatile economy, everyone is trying to discover new
ways to reduce spending. At this Symposium, you will have
the opportunity to hear from industry professionals, discuss
the challenges being faced, and network with other
industry professionals to share ideas.

Managing Your Resources

Whether it is technology, or people, when you are asked to do more with less, you have to make the most of the resources available. Together, we'll discuss and share valuable information in areas such as motivation, outsourcing and positioning change.

Effective leaders understand themselves. They are aware of their style of leading, their strengths and opportunities, and they are committed to ongoing personal and professional development. DiSC, an online assessment tool developed over 50 years ago, determines one’s predominant personality style and its impact on others within an organization.

Research has found that behavior can be described by four major 'personality styles', each with a set of characteristics common to the style. Each style adds a unique value to a team. Knowledge and increased awareness of others provided by the DiSC assessment is valuable to any work team.

The value of this assessment is two-fold. The first value is that taking the DiSC results in increased self-awareness of one's own style and the impact on others and the work environment. Second, taking the DiSC results in an increased ability to better understand others' styles, enhancing communication throughout an organization.

Registrants will take the assessment online as prework to the Symposium. Mary Ann O’Neil, a certified DiSC facilitator will review your results with you in an educational and fun DiSC workshop during the Symposium.

The State of Our Industry

A research team from Auburn University’s Supply Chain Management (SCM) program recently completed a study of the retail supply chain. Co-sponsored by Fortna, RILA and the Auburn University College of Business, the project provided insights into the major supply chain challenges facing the retail industry and the capabilities that must be developed by retailers to attain supply chain excellence.

Brian Gibson, professor of SCM at Auburn University will speak at the 9th Annual Best Practices Symposium about the findings of the study. Attendees will use this information to participate in thought provoking discussion regarding supply chain best practices and how the present economic conditions have had an affect on supply chain processes.
